Nelson

ternielle nelson

Ternielle Nelson, a Durban-raised, Joburg-living singer and songwriter whose debut UNEARTHED is so startlingly good, its hard to believe that she’s not been a fixture on the music scene for a significant period of time. In fact, Nelson’s considerable talent was spotted early on by one of South Africa’s most astute music minds, Selaelo Selota, who first noticed the now 22-year-old during a year-end concert at the Central Johannesburg College and later urged her to enter the studio to record her debut. I think that the fact that I play guitar and write my own songs impressed Selaelo, Nelson confides. But Miss Nelson has since staged a number of collaborations with Culoe De Song, Dj Euphonik and is currently gigging with a live band. Her sound has evolved to include traditional, electro dance, Soul and Hip Hop elements to produce what can only be determined as the future of South African Music.

Ruffest

Ruffest

Max and Sello form the Cape Town Kwaito duo, the Ruffest, arguably one of the Mother Cities biggest champions to South Africa’s ever-loved, and these days sometime ignored, indigenous kwaito music genre. Coming from the township of Nyanga they embody the resilient and passionate attitude that so many Kwaito artists have imbued as a part of their success: The Ruffest underwent an intensive music producing training at the Oskido Legacy Foundation from 20 May 2012 till 25 May 2012, which they have entered and were selected as a few from the Western Cape. At the same week they performed on the 26 May, at the Red Bull Beat Battle which took place at Baseline, Newtown, Johhanesburg alongside, TKZEE, Big Nuzz, Pro Kid and Black Motion.

Women Who Kill

Women Who Kill

I am a big kid who was once afraid of the dark. I compose, produce and remix. I play the violin, viola, drums, guitar and jewish harp. I can pour a perfect pint and make a mean cup of tea.

I like noise, I fear silence. I have a baby tooth. Women Who Kill fuses electronic and acoustic, holding onto every little sound passing his eardrum. His music mainly incorporates electronica, house, downtempo… always with a twist. Women Who Kill swims upstream.
